Hey! Looking for a hotel marketing agency based in Yorkshire?

25+ Years of Experience in Hotel Marketing

I help independent hotels and hotel groups grow their brand presence and generate bookings and revenue.

My journey began with a Design Studies degree from Nottingham Trent University. I graduated in 1996 and went on to do the Chartered Institute of Marketing Postgraduate Diploma. My first role from uni was in marketing with Wella GB (B2B hair and beauty sector). I then worked in asset finance marketing with Barclays Mercantile (B2B) before moving to the hotel industry with Paramount Hotels.

I work either remotely from home in West Yorkshire or on-site with my hotel clients. I am routinely in Leeds and Halifax. Manchester, York, Doncaster and Sheffield are within easy reach. I am dedicated to providing tailored hotel marketing solutions wherever I’m needed and willing to travel.

When not working, I enjoy staying active: walking our dog, swimming, watching sports, meeting friends and dining out. With family overseas, we visit Spain regularly. I also have a love for British holidays, especially Lytham St Annes and Northumberland.

A Career in Marketing

I began my career by studying design and business at Nottingham Trent University. Two years at Wella GB followed, dreaming up ways for salons to market their products and services to clients. It was here that my passion for working in a creative people industry began.

From Wella, I was approached to work with the marketing team at Barclays Mercantile (vehicle investment and leasing). I acquired skills in technically complex, jargon-filled corporate marketing e.g., writing promotional terms and conditions and brand/design guidelines.

Specialising in Hotel Marketing

My passion for hospitality and business-to-consumer marketing was first ignited by Paramount Hotels. I loved Paramount’s inspiring team, its creative approach and customer service focus. I joined Paramount Hotels in my twenties, progressing to director of marketing by 30. Here, I developed the group hotel marketing strategy for 26 hotels, predominantly 100+bed properties. I created my first website, a loyalty club, national press ads and direct mail. My work generated over £1 million revenue annually in leisure sales–a lot back then!

From Paramount Hotels, I moved to QHotels. Like Paramount, this group’s business strategy was hotel acquisitions, refurbishments and restructuring. As Director of Marketing, I developed the hotel marketing strategy, managed group leisure sales and the conference brand. I was delighted we won (BVA) BDRC Most Improved Meetings Brand.

Setting Up an Agency for Freelance Hotel Marketing

After having a family, I ventured into specialist freelancing. In 2010, a Leeds-based digital marketing agency approached me for help with a hotel client tender proposal. My deep knowledge of hospitality marketing proved valuable, and the opportunity to freelance full-time was an exciting itch to scratch.

I’ve been lucky to work with some of the UK’s best-loved hotel groups as well as brilliant, small independent hotels. Sometimes it’s on a short-term basis e.g., Christmas brochures, award writing or creating a marketing plan. For other hospitality clients I’m considered an outsource or fractional hotel marketing manager. I’m happy to help in any capacity where I have availability.

I still work with hotel clients from my first freelancing days, which is an absolute joy. From time to time, design or digital agencies seek my skills in the hotel industry. I love working anyone who is passionate, driven and creative. My reputation for reliability, hitting deadlines and being professional speaks for itself. I take pride in being someone hoteliers can always depend on.
